This short course is designed to provide an overview of available solutions for solving real analytical problems using Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS). The unique features of LIBS in particular its capability to detect, identify, and quantify the chemical composition of any material in any form (e.g. gas, liquid, solid, conductive or non-conductive) in many real applications will be covered. Finally, the use of LIBS for Process Analytical Technology (PAT), Industry 4.0, high throughput laboratory equipment as well as other automation applications of the technology will be presented. These applications include on-line direct analysis of metal alloys, drill core samples, cements, soils, real-time sensing for sorting purpose, and automated laboratory-based instrument.
