Joseph D. Viviano

Mila - Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute

"Can an AI Understand a Scientist?"

Joseph holds an Undergraduate degree in Psychology from Queen's University and dual Master's degrees in Biology and Computer Science from York University and the University of Montreal. He has over 10 years of experience applying machine learning and AI to domains spanning psychiatric biomarker development, radiology, web-scale search ad ranking, financial portfolio construction, RNA therapeutic discovery, and de novo antibody design. He now works with Yoshua Bengio's group at the Mila Quebec AI Instuitute to develop an ecosystem of open source tools to facilitate AI-driven scientific discovery, and contributes to research efforts in this area, with an emphasis on biology.
